Storage Conditions??

I?ve been asked how to store a compound with resorcinol, salicylic acid, & LCD. I know resorcinol needs to be protected from light. Are there other storage conditions to be considered?

Because the alcohol in the LCD can evaporate, the product should be stored in a cool place and in a tight container. Perhaps the best storage would be that suggested in the USP Compounding Monograph. It has several recommendations for beyond-use dating of extemporaneously compounded formulations. Storage in a refrigerator is the main criterion; that usually solves the light exposure problem and slows evaporation.
