A pharmacy robber took the phrase, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again,” to heart in his pursuit of prescription drugs.
Village Pharmacy in Conroe, Texas, was hit by the same thief twice in 24 hours, ABC13 reported.
In the robber’s first attempt, he could not access the pharmacy’s safe that contained a variety of painkillers. So, video surveillance shows him coming back a second time with tools around 3 AM.
The thief wore goggles and a hooded sweatshirt, and sparks flew as he drilled into the safe for an hour.
The pharmacy staff found its glass door shattered and the contents of its safe empty the next morning. Employees had to ask some patients to seek medication elsewhere, since their stock was depleted, ABC13 reported.
Village Pharmacy owner Richard McMillan said he estimated the street value of the medications to be around $200,000.
The pharmacy owner thought he had a security system in place, but no alarms went off.
“I thought we were secure,” McMillan told ABC13. “Obviously, we had a false sense of security.”
The pharmacy is now upgrading its safety features.
