PTCE Receives Full ACPE Reaccreditation With Commendation

Status reaffirms PTCE as the leader in continuing pharmacy education

Pharnacy Times Continuing Education™ (PTCE) has been awarded full reaccreditation by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) for the next 6 years, with special commendation for its Teaching and Learning Methods.

ACPE is the national agency for the accreditation of professional degree programs in pharmacy and providers of continuing pharmacy education. In collaboration with the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, ACPE accredits pharmacy technician education and training programs. ACPE’s Continuing Education Provider Accreditation Program is designed to ensure pharmacists and pharmacy technicians receive high-quality and fair-balanced continuing pharmacy education (CPE).

“The ACPE is focused on offering interactive learning with home-study activities, which has shown to be a challenge for CE providers,” said Dimitra V. Travlos, PharmD, assistant executive director and director of Continuing Pharmacy Education Provider Accreditation, ACPE. “We are pleased to reaccredit PTCE’s ACPE’s accreditation and look forward to their continued advancement of the practice of pharmacy through interactive education initiatives.”

PTCE is a brand of MJH Life Sciences™, the largest privately held, independent, full-service medical media company in North America, dedicated to delivering trusted health care news across multiple channels. PTCE’s print, online and live CPE activities are designed to improve the knowledge, competence and skills of pharmacists to better prepare them to provide the highest quality of pharmacy care to the patients they serve and the physicians they assist as part of a multidisciplinary treatment and management team.

The ACPE's Continuing Pharmacy Education Commission and its Board of Directors reviewed PTCE’s Continuing Pharmacy Education Provider Re-Accreditation Self-Assessment Report and granted full accreditation for its overall CPE programming. The reviewers highlighted the strong practices demonstrated in PTCE examples for Standard 7: Teaching and Learning Methods by giving commendation in this area. The ACPE declared that PTCE has shown it is a leader by piloting Patient Counseling videos that allow participant interaction. PTCE rises above passive learner participation in its CPE activities as these interactive video experiences offer additional opportunities for learners to demonstrate increases in competency and reinforce key educational points for optimizing patient care.

“This outstanding recognition and commendation from the ACPE are a result of our overall commitment to and focus on providing innovative continuing education for pharmacists,” said Jim Palatine, RPh, MBA, president of PTCE. “Meeting the strict standards of ACPE and being recognized as a leader in our teaching and learning methods demonstrates to our funders and participants that we are a highly trusted partner in pharmacy education. We look forward to continuing to raise the bar by innovating and sharing our practices and experiences with other providers in the pharmacy industry.”
