Preventing Pneumococcal Disease

Populations at risk for developing pneumococcal disease, including seniors, can benefit from the preventive protection of vaccination. Many adults who are older than 65 years did not receive any vaccination against pneumococcal disease as a child. In addition, adults with comorbid conditions are at additional risk for developing pneumococcal infection, and should educate themselves on the benefits of vaccination for preventing potentially life-threatening illness.
