No. 1 Print and Online Source for Pharmacists Takes to Social Media to #ThankAPharmacist
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (September 26, 2016) - Pharmacy Times®, the leading media resource for pharmacists and the pharmacy industry, celebrates American Pharmacists Month (APhM) this October. Sponsored by the American Pharmacists Association, the goal of APhM is to draw attention to the pharmacy profession and generate recognition for pharmacists among their peers, patients and communities.
Pharmacy Times® will take to social media again in 2016 during APhM to help honor and celebrate pharmacists everywhere. Last October, Pharmacy Times® helped to recognize thousands of pharmacists through its Twitter, Facebook and Instagram channels, bringing broader awareness to the profession and celebrating the value of the pharmacist.
“As the leading voice in the pharmacy industry, Pharmacy Times® proudly welcomes the opportunity to participate in American Pharmacists Month again this October,” said Brian Haug, president of Pharmacy and Healthcare Communications, LLC, which publishes Pharmacy Times®. “Our mission, once more, is to try and recognize all U.S. pharmacists who contribute to the wellness of patients — through clinical integration, patient consultation and medication therapy management — to improve the overall quality of care. Join Pharmacy Times® on social media using #ThankAPharmacist to show your appreciation for these professionals who dedicate themselves to help us all lead healthier lives.”
“Know Your Pharmacist:” Pharmacy Times® Supports APhM to #ThankAPharmacist
Each October, APhM encourages consumers to “Know Your Medicine, Know Your Pharmacist,” highlighting the important role pharmacists play as they offer assistance with prescription and over-the-counter medication choices.
This October, supporting APhM’s effort to “Know Your Pharmacist,” Pharmacy Times® asks its followers to thank, recognize and celebrate pharmacists through social media with #ThankAPharmacist. Pharmacy Times® encourages followers to share an experience or photo that brings the value of their pharmacist to light. By using #ThankAPharmacist and tagging @Pharmacy_Times, followers have an opportunity to generate awareness and goodwill for their favorite pharmacists.
Additionally, in its November issue, Pharmacy Times® will feature a selection of 10 posts shared during APhM that best exemplify the value of the pharmacist. Selections will be considered from all three of Pharmacy Times®’ social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Followers can submit stories through all three outlets for a chance to be highlighted in the top 10 selection.
“Know Your Medication:” OTC Guide™ from Pharmacy Times® and U.S. News & World Report
In today’s health care system, pharmacists provide guidance and information for patients on both prescription and over-the-counter medications. Pharmacists have a responsibility to share these insights, as medical risks increase with the number of medications taken by a patient.
In order to make pharmacist-quality information available to consumers, Pharmacy Times® annually produces the OTC Guide™ in partnership with U.S. News & World Report. The OTC Guide™ surveys thousands of pharmacists to determine the best pharmacist-recommended products and award the designation of “No. 1 Pharmacist Recommended” brand to medications in 150 product categories.
