Pharmacy Hero: Pharmacist Coordinates Schedule to Protect Immunocompromised Staff Members During COVID-19 Pandemic

“What she did for me this week is what defines heroic.”

Today we’re thanking Christina Ley, PharmD, a staff pharmacist at Family Care Pharmacy in Missouri Baptist Medical Center. In addition to taking care of her patients during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, Ley’s fellow pharmacist, Laura Schoenike, PharmD, MHA, said Ley has gone above and beyond to protect other staff members.

This week, Schoenike said Ley rearranged her schedule and even changed her son’s daycare schedule to allow Schoenike to work from home because she is immunocompromised.

“What she did for me this week is what defines heroic,” Schoenike said. “She literally could be saving my life and I am forever grateful.”

Pharmacy Times wants to celebrate the amazing pharmacy staff members who are on the frontlines every day. Nominate someone in your pharmacy by emailing AAntrim@pharmacytimes.com with their name, position, and why they’re a hero!
