A public awareness campaign aimed at highlighting the value of the pharmacist has entered its second phase following a successful first phase, according to the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP).
The Pharmacists for Healthier Lives campaign is a national effort designed to raise awareness of pharmacists’ roles in delivering quality health care. The campaign is supported by a coalition of pharmacy organizations that includes AACP, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations, the Georgia Pharmacy Association, and PrescribeWellness.
“Pharmacists are an integral part of a patient’s healthcare team and are often our most accessible health care professionals. They conduct medication reviews and make recommendations, provide immunizations and offer advice on basic health care issues,” AACP executive vice president and CEO Lucinda L. Maine, PhD, RPh, previously stated. “We and our campaign partners seek to increase awareness of how pharmacists help people live healthier lives, and to promote understanding of the many settings in which pharmacists use their extensive knowledge and expertise.”
Since its launch in October 2018, the campaign reached more than 4 million individuals on Facebook, with the campaign video achieving more than 8 million views and more than 10 million impressions.
The campaign has now entered phase 2, with advertising planned through March 2019 and research scheduled for summer 2019.
