Look at what pharmacist futurists are saying and see how you might prepare yourself to be productive if their predictions come true.
One of my goals in life is to become a pharmacist futurist. As I have stated many times before, the only thing certain in life is change.
I might say more about the recent changes in my life in another post, but today, I want to challenge you to think about how pharmacy’s future will impact your pharmacy career. One way to prepare for that future is to look at what pharmacist futurists are saying and see how you might prepare yourself to be productive if their predictions come true.
I suggest that you start by looking at the ASHP Foundation’s Pharmacy Forecast 2014-2018, even if you do not practice in health-system pharmacy. Given that you will at least be competing with a health system in the near future, use this tool to find out what impact its changes could have on your practice.
Individuals can be categorized into 2 groups: those who accept their lives, and those who lead their lives. Those who lead their lives are proactive, and one way to be proactive is to try to understand how the future will change and then prepare to use the changes to accomplish more.
