ALEXANDRIA, Va. (January 15, 2015) —
The
National Community Pharmacists Association
(NCPA) today announced its 2015 line-up of Ownership Workshops and Front-End Profit Building Seminars, educational programming designed for future community pharmacy owners or current owners looking to strengthen their management and merchandising skills.
NCPA will host its popular Ownership Workshop Feb. 27 - March 1 in Memphis, Tenn.; May 1-3 in Reno, Nev.; and Aug. 21-23 in Charlotte, N.C. The one-day Front-End Profit Building Seminar will be held April 30 in Reno, Aug. 20 in Charlotte, and Oct. 9 in the Washington, D.C. area in conjunction with NCPA’s Annual Convention and Trade Exposition.
“Community pharmacy ownership is a rewarding career path, but getting started and managing a successful practice can be an overwhelming process. That’s why our comprehensive educational workshops have been so popular for aspiring pharmacy owners, where attendees can hear directly from experts in the industry and from current owners with years of firsthand experience,” said NCPA President John T. Sherrer, RPh, co-owner of Kenmar Pharmacy and Poole’s Pharmacy in Marietta, Ga. “There’s no time like the present to tackle that New Year’s resolution of learning more about pharmacy ownership or improving your current ownership and management skills, and NCPA’s educational programming can help you achieve those goals.”
Now in its 24th year,
NCPA’s Ownership Workshop, sponsored by McKesson and in part by Pharmacists Mutual and Live Oak Bank, gives prospective and current pharmacy owners an in-depth look at the industry and the financial, management, and marketing skills needed to buy, finance, and operate a successful pharmacy business. More
than 50 percent of past Ownership Workshop attendees now own their own pharmacy.
The intensive three-day session offers pharmacists 20 hours of continuing education credits.
The Front-End Profit Building Seminar is a one-day program that gives pharmacy owners, managers, and front-end employees the tools and knowledge to increase store traffic and profits. Topics covered during the session include easy fixes to curb appeal, floor plans and cross-merchandising, inventory management, and marketing ideas, among others. This program also offers pharmacists 7.5 hours of continuing education credits.
“I
learned more about independent pharmacy and ownership this weekend than I could have learned on my own in a book,” said one 2014 workshop attendee, while another pharmacy owner claimed, “Ownership Workshop was an amazing, informative experience. My only regret is I did not attend earlier!” Others, like Florida pharmacy owner Julian Mathew, called the Front-End Profit Building Seminar “extremely informative” and “a lot of fun.”
