Although many attendees and presenters are looking forward to returning to in-person conferences in the future, Anne Krolikowski, CAE, executive director of the Hematology/Oncology Pharmacy Association (HOPA), said the virtual format of their upcoming conference allows even more people to attend.
In an interview with Pharmacy Times, Krolikowski said the virtual format will also allow attendees to participate in even more educational sessions than usual, with sessions ranging from investigational drugs to managing implicit biases and almost 40 hours of continuing education credits. The keynote address, to be presented by Lakesha M. Butler, PharmD, BCPS, will discuss how pharmacists can be involved in dismantling structural racism, an issue which Krolikowski said has important impacts on health disparities.
“Attendees can really expect to learn broadly about the social determinants of health, and also introspectively about how to acknowledge and manage implicit biases,” Kroslikowski said about the keynote lecture.
