Generic Equivalent of Zyvox Receives FDA Approval

The FDA has approved Glenmark Pharmaceuticals' linezolid tablets 600 mg, which is the generic equivalent of Zyvox 600 mg tablets.

The FDA has approved Glenmark Pharmaceuticals’ linezolid tablets 600 mg, which is the generic equivalent of Zyvox 600 mg tablets.

Pharmacia and Upjohn Company, a subsidiary of Pfizer, manufactures Zyvox, which is an antibacterial indicated for the treatment of nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and skin structure infections, uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, and vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections.

IMS Health estimated that sales of Zyvox for the year ending October 2015 were around $447.6 million.

Glenmark has around 100 products authorized for distribution in the United States, plus 62 abbreviated new drug applications pending approval with the FDA.
