PRESS RELEASE
May 13, 2013 (Arlington, Va.) - The August launch of retail’s newest and fully integrated tradeshow and strategic exchange will feature an address by former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) announced today.
The NACDS Total Store Expo will be held August 10-13, 2013, at Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas, NV. Secretary Clinton will speak during the Business Program on the morning of Monday, August 12.
“Secretary Clinton will bring to the NACDS Total Store Expo first-hand insights on some of the most pressing issues facing the world and the nation today,” said Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE, president and CEO of NACDS.
“Her remarks will help to deliver on a core promise, that the NACDS Total Store Expo will bring together diverse leaders who can help participants forecast the operating environment and take action together in new and exciting ways.”
Hillary Rodham Clinton served as the 67th Secretary of State from 2009 until 2013, after nearly four decades in public service. Her "smart power" approach to foreign policy repositioned American diplomacy and development for the 21st century. Clinton played a central role in restoring America’s standing in the world, reasserting the United States as a Pacific power, imposing crippling sanctions on Iran and North Korea, responding to the Arab Awakening and negotiating a ceasefire in the Middle East. She gave voice to universal values and pushed the frontiers of human rights, and demonstrated that giving women the opportunity to participate fully is vital to United States foreign policy goals of security, stability and prosperity.
Earlier, as First Lady and Senator from New York, she traveled to more than 80 countries as a champion of human rights, democracy, and opportunities for women and girls. Clinton also worked to provide health care to millions of children, create jobs and opportunity, and support first responders who risked their lives at Ground Zero. In her historic campaign for President, Clinton won 18 million votes.
The NACDS Total Store Expo has been crafted to maximize strategic dialogue among retailer and supplier personnel with diverse responsibilities. Its approach will help to identify new opportunities from the pharmacy, to every aisle of the store, to the supply chain to the implementation of technology. The end goal is to meet the needs of consumers and patients in new and dynamic ways, for example, with a truly broad approach to health and wellness.
A powerful and insightful array of programming will complement an exhibit hall that already is 97 percent sold out and that will prove to feature compelling products and services for today and beyond. Author and business consultant Jim Collins joins Secretary Clinton among an impressive array of speakers committed to the event.
