NCPA Updates--Febraury 2009

The National Community Pharmacists Association continues to offer educational opportunities for pharmacists, as well as seek their input on issues impacting the practice of pharmacy.

NCPA Announces Launch of Ownership Academy

Entrepreneurial pharmacists interested in owning their own pharmacy or further developing their management skills now have a one-stop resource for everything related to operating a pharmacy. NCPA announced the launch of its new Ownership Academy, a “go-to” resource for NCPA members in all phases of community ownership. From exploring the community pharmacy path as a student, to tools to assist in pharmacy purchase, to enhance practice and profitability as an owner, and to transition out of ownership into retirement, the Ownership Academy has the answers.

Visit the Ownership Academy at www.ncpanet.org/ownership to see online tools, continuing education, reference materials, and the most comprehensive financial, economic, demographic, marketing, management, and legal information available to help pharmacists make objective, informed decisions for their pharmacy business.

NCPA Ownership Workshop

Part of the Ownership Workshop includes a 3-day course in pharmacy ownership and management that is specifically designed for potential pharmacy owners and provides an intensive curriculum on finance, business analysis, marketing, and much more! In addition, several pharmacy owners will be on hand to provide their perspective on how they got started, the risk, and the rewards of pharmacy ownership. More than 50% of past workshop participants now own their own pharmacy. Meet and ask questions to past workshop participants who have successfully opened multiple stores and see how easy it is done.

Where: Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport, Pittsburgh, PA

When: May 1-3, 2009

The cost of the workshop is $650 for NCPA members, $825 for nonmember staff pharmacists, and $925 for nonmember pharmacy owners/managers. The registration fee includes all meals, 2 nights’ lodging, tuition, and continuing education processing. Class size is limited to the first 75 paid registrants, so register early.
