The Convenient Care Association (CCA) is pleased to announce that Contemporary Clinic has become its official journal.

PLAINSBORO, N.J.--(

BUSINESS WIRE

)--The Convenient Care Association (CCA), the national trade association representing the retail-based clinic industry in efforts to provide consumers with affordable, convenient and high-quality health care, is pleased to announce that Contemporary Clinic has become its official journal.

Contemporary Clinic, published by Intellisphere, which also publishers Pharmacy Times, is the only health care journal specifically tailored toward retail-based clinicians. The journal provides clinically relevant information for nurse practitioners and physician assistants, serving as a major vehicle to share best practices, news and upcoming trends relevant to the retail health industry.

“With both quality and convenience serving as the major drivers for patients when considering their health care options, there is a growing need to offer professional resources to the nurse practitioners and physician assistants who staff the retail-based clinics, providing them with practical tools so that they can successfully run their clinics and better serve patients,” said Brian Haug, president of Pharmacy and Managed Markets Networks at Intellisphere.

Retail-based clinics have rapidly expanded in the last 15 years, and there are currently more than 1,900 operating across the nation. By 2016, that number is expected to grow to 3,000. Clinicians within this setting, including nurse practitioners, physician assistants and pharmacists, are highly trained and skilled professionals who can offer services ranging from preventive and acute episodic care to the management of certain chronic illnesses. A dedicated journal focusing on the unique trends and needs of retail-based clinicians fills clinical gaps and expands information sharing among providers.

Contemporary Clinic will prove to be an invaluable resource for clinicians within the retail-based setting and further the work of the industry to provide high-quality and affordable health care in convenient settings,” said Tine Hansen-Turton, executive director of the Convenient Care Association. “We welcome this partnership and look forward to working with Intellisphere and the editorial board in our expanded efforts to share best practices and improve patient outcomes and experiences.”

Contemporary Clinic’s editorial board is made up of leading experts from around the nation and will include representation from both large and small retail clinic operators and clinical health systems. Written by nurse practitioners and physician assistants who are either active practitioners or experts with an academic focus, feature articles will include topics on preventive, acute and chronic care. Additional topics will include business, law and policy and information technology. Articles in each issue will offer accredited continuing education for nurse practitioners and physician assistants.

Contemporary Clinic articles and exclusive online content can be accessed through the journal’s website, www.ContemporaryClinic.com. A subscription includes access to other publications, including the OTC Guide and Latest News in Pharmacy.
