Flexbumin [Albumin (Human)] 25% Solution

Baxter Healthcare Corp (Deerfield,Ill) recently received FDA approval forFlexbumin [Albumin (Human)] 25%Solution, the first preparation of humanalbumin to be packaged in a flexible container.The product has the same indicationsand provides the same stability asalbumin in glass bottles but providesimproved convenience for health careprofessionals, as its flexible packagingprovides less risk of breakage and ismore compatible with hospital inventorystorage systems. The flexible containersare lighter and require less space, whichmay save hospitals money on disposal.Flexbumin is a sterile, nonpyrogenicpreparation of albumin in a single dosageform for intravenous administration. Theproduct is indicated for the treatment ofhypovolemia, hypoalbuminemia due toinadequate reproduction, excessivecatabolism, hemorrhage, major surgeryor burns, and for use during cardiopulmonarybypass surgery.
