A study from the University Medical Center Utrecht in the Netherlands found that people who ate lots of foods rich in omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids and fatty fish such as the mackerel, salmon, and herring found in northern Europe had a lower incidence of impaired brain functioning.At the same time, those people with diets high in cholesterol were at a significantly increased risk of memory impairment.
These findings are not supported by earlier research that showed no correlation between brain functioning and fatty fish. According to Dr. Sandra Kalmijn, ?It certainly won?t harm you to eat more fatty fish. It?s already shown to be protective of cardiovascular functions. Maybe it also keeps your brain fit.?
