National Association of Specialty Pharmacy Opens Registration for 2020 Annual Meeting & Expo

The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy opened registration for its eighth Annual Meeting & Expo, to be held Sept. 14 - 17 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

The National Association of Specialty Pharmacy (NASP), a nonprofit organization representing all specialty pharmacy industry stakeholders, opened registration for its eighth Annual Meeting & Expo, to be held Sept. 14 - 17 at the Washington Marriott Wardman Park in Washington, D.C.

"The NASP Annual Meeting & Expo is a premier industry event for the specialty pharmacy community, offering unparalleled educational and networking opportunities designed to empower specialty pharmacy professionals to navigate this rapidly evolving industry and create opportunities for future success. The Annual Meeting & Expo serves as the ideal forum to enhance clinical, technical, and leadership skills, as well as exchange ideas and share best practices. Feedback received from meeting attendees is invaluable and is being used to expand the educational breadth and scope of agenda topics, enhance the attendee experience, increase the value delivered, and make the best use of your time and financial investment," said Sheila M. Arquette, RPH, NASP executive director.

The NASP Annual Meeting & Expo hosts over 1,200 specialty pharmacy professionals, including senior level executives, specialty pharmacy thought leaders and industry veterans, pharmacy directors, staff pharmacists, practicing nurses and clinical nurse specialists, consultants and other management-level personnel. Attendees represent the full spectrum of the industry, including specialty pharmacy providers, infusion pharmacies, health-system pharmacies, pharma/biotech manufacturers, institutional pharmacies, managed care organizations, data management and analytic organizations, group purchasing organizations, distributors, and suppliers to the industry.

The annual event features: nationally renowned keynote speakers; conference workshops; educational programs and panel discussions; continuing legal education and continuing pharmacist education credits; a Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) examination preparatory course; a showcase for complex research in specialty pharmacy with accepted abstract poster presentations, best in class awards recognition and on-line publication in the PubMed indexed Journal of Drug Assessment, an official journal of NASP; individual and corporate service and quality awards and recognition; scholarship awards; a large exhibit hall; and, a fun opportunity to Give Back to the patient community we collectively serve! Educational sessions designed for health-system pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and students will be a new offering at this year's event.

In addition to the conference activities listed above, the meeting will offer the following workshops:

  • NASP Fifth Annual Specialty Pharmacy Law Conference: This unique, one-day conference is intended for general counsel and in-house counsel for national and regional specialty pharmacies, manufacturers, practicing attorneys in health care law, compliance officers and executives. Presentations will cover current legal and regulatory requirements and the extraordinary complexities associated with operating a specialty pharmacy. Attendees can receive continuing legal education credits as well as pharmacist continuing education (CE) credits.
  • NASP Certified Specialty Pharmacist Examination Preparatory Course: NASP will host a one-day preparation course for pharmacists studying for the examination administered by the Specialty Pharmacy Certification Board for Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) certification. The course will cover all essential topics to effectively prepare pharmacists interested in taking the CSP exam. CE credit will be available to those who successfully complete the course.
  • NASP Partners With NHIA to offer Home Infusion Workshop: Subject matter experts from NHIA will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to learn more about the regulatory, legal, operational and clinical complexities of the home infusion industry.
