PRESS RELEASE
Washington, D.C., July 22, 2015 — A team from The U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP), along with Cheeriodicals, delivered cheer in the form of 300 big green boxes to patients at Children’s National Health System during a "Cheeriodicals Day" event held on July 22, 2015. Cheeriodicals are "big green boxes of cheer" made up, in this case, of age-appropriate magazines and activity books, room decorations, puzzles, stickers and games for the children to enjoy.
More than 300 USP attendees volunteered their time to assemble the one-of-a-kind children’s gift boxes.
"We're excited to deliver smiles to Children’s National Health System today," said Gary Parisher, President of Cheeriodicals. " Partnering with the team from USP to first assemble the Cheeriodicals during a team building activity, and then deliver them in person, has been an unforgettable experience.”
After a special delivery to the hospital, free of charge, by Two Men and a Truck, Alexandria, VA, Cheeriodicals and a team from USP began handing out the big green boxes of cheer to patient families at the hospital. The boxes were tailored to boys or girls and specific age groups and are sure to bring joy to the children.
“We are extremely pleased to contribute with Cheeriodicals to bring a smile to these children at Children’s National Health System,” said Ronald T. Piervincenzi, Ph.D., USP’s Chief Executive Officer. “It was a very fulfilling team building activity for USP, with a joyous result for USP staff and our scientific expert volunteers.”
Cheeriodicals Day is catching on across the country. Cheeriodicals has worked with children's hospitals in dozens of markets nationwide including: Phoenix, Birmingham, Cincinnati, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Columbus, New York and Omaha on Cheeriodicals Days and has plans to continue working with corporate sponsors to bring cheer to children's hospitals throughout the country.
