US Bioservices Customizes Patient Care

With the complicated specialty pharmacy landscape becoming more difficult to traverse for both patients and providers, US Bioservices has streamlined the process that allows patients to begin therapy.

As part of the AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group, US Bioservices received URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation late last year, which validates excellence in specialty management. The designation highlighted US Bioservices’ quality improvement processes to enhance compliance. US Bioservices initially achieved accreditation in 2012 under the original URAC standards.

“By applying for and receiving URAC accreditation, US Bioservices has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” URAC president and chief operating officer Kylanne Green said in a press release. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare, and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards and undergo rigorous evaluation by an independent accrediting body.”

US Bioservices offers nationwide specialty pharmacy and nursing services customized to meet the needs of patients, physicians, payers, and manufacturers. Licensed in all 50 states, the independent specialty pharmacy administers crucial medications, provides education services, and offers clinical support to treatment adherence.

Medication compliance is achieved through the company’s Pathpoint patient care program, which is personalized to streamline the process that allows patients to rapidly begin a therapy while receiving support to manage any adverse effects.

Within 24 hours of receiving a prescription from a physician, a Pathpoint care coordinator completes a thorough insurance benefit verification before discussing various benefit options and co-payments with a patient. Once this is accomplished, US Bioservices arranges quick and confidential medication delivery to a patient’s home or office at no cost.

The specialty pharmacy also maintains nurses and pharmacists on call around the clock to answer any questions related to therapy and provide refill reminder calls.

For each condition, US Bioservices offers patient-, payer-, and physician-focused programs that address factors including drug adherence, medication waste management, interventions, and outcomes.

In order to prevent physicians from spending an excessive amount of time contacting pharmacies on a daily basis, US Bioservices offers immediate online access to patient pharmacy records through its MyPathpoint portal, which mitigates the administrative burden faced by providers. MyPathpoint offers real-time access to tools and data that help physicians manage patient care in or out of their offices. The program centralizes all interactions with US Bioservices through a single dedicated website.

The site provides physicians with the ability to order prescriptions and view their status, utilize refill notifications and an approval mechanism, track shipments, obtain prior authorization and other relevant patient insurance information, receive patient assistance program information and enrollment, obtain patient prescription and dispensing records, and receive customized data reporting. The portal also gives patients personalized access to their records online while allowing them to request medication refills and track shipments.

The Frisco, Texas—based specialty pharmacy also maintains an infusion pharmacy in Maryland that is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, Inc (ACHC). In addition to receiving URAC accreditation, US Bioservices has been accredited by ACHC as a provider of pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, and infusion nursing services.

“Our goal is to shape health care delivery by helping providers and patients navigate the challenges in today’s complex environment,” said US Bioservices chief operating officer Kelly Ratliff in a press release. SPT
