The future of pharmacy holds immense potential for growth and transformation. As health care systems evolve, pharmacists are poised to play a more integral role in patient care. With advancements in technology, pharmacists will be equipped with powerful tools to analyze vast amounts of patient data, enabling them to provide more personalized and effective treatment plans. Automation of routine tasks promises to free up valuable time for pharmacists to focus on clinical services, such as medication therapy management and patient counseling.

Moreover, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning will revolutionize pharmacy practice. AI-powered systems can assist in drug discovery, clinical decision-making, and even personalized medicine. Pharmacists, with their deep understanding of medications and patient needs, will be essential in interpreting and implementing AI-driven insights. As health care becomes ever more complex, pharmacists will be at the forefront of ensuring safe and effective medication use, collaborating closely with other health care providers to optimize patient outcomes.

Several articles in this issue focus on the future of pharmacists in health care. In a feature article, Kathleen Kenny, PharmD, RPh, discusses the leaps forward researchers have made in Alzheimer disease, providing hope for millions of patients and their families. With new drugs to slow progression and manage symptoms, pharmacists are well positioned to help patients and caretakers navigate this new treatment landscape.

Despite the challenges, pharmacists, researchers, and others are banding together and looking toward a bright future, with opportunities for pharmacists to expand their scope of practice and make significant impacts on public health. By embracing technological advancements and focusing on patient-centered care, pharmacists will continue to be indispensable members of the health care team, driving innovation and improving the lives of patients.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year, and as always, thank you for reading.
