A recent study has found that palliative care could potentially cause stress to patients’ family members. Additional information from specialists about a family member’s prognosis were shown to induce symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. Groups receiving normal counseling were not shown to have experienced any of those symptoms, Kaiser Health News reported.
A recent report from the US Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services predicts that national health spending average will increase to $10,000 per person this year. Health spending is expected to increase after a period of slow spending growth, according to The New York Times. The report also predicted that in 2025, 1 of 5 people will be insured through Medicare.
Michael Pearson, the ex-CEO of Valeant Pharmaceuticals, has sold $100 million of his stock in the company. To date, he has sold 700,042 shares, and plans to keep his remaining 3.5 million shares, according to The Wall Street Journal. Earlier this year, he had as many as 9 million shares in the company.
