Alana Hippensteele: Hi, I'm speaking with Sandra Leal, the executive vice president for SymphoniaRx and president elect of the American Pharmacists Association about the value of a pharmacist today. So Sandra, what do you think the value of a pharmacist is?
Sandra Leal: So, the value of a pharmacist is incredible. I mean, we're seeing right now in COVID-19 how exceptionally important pharmacists have been as an access point for patients seeking care and to maintain continuity. You know, pharmacists have been classified as essential healthcare workers, and when you think about this post-pandemic and pre-pandemic, pharmacists have always been a place that people go for care. Especially now, with vaccinations and all of the public health efforts making sure patients are taking their medications appropriately and making sure their safety and optimization around their medication regimen. So really, pharmacists are incredible access points, and hopefully that will continue to be emphasized post-pandemic. You know, we're constantly trying to receive recognition as providers, so this has really highlighted the important role pharmacists have in communities.
Alana Hippensteele: Absolutely. Thank you so much for taking the time out today to speak with me.
Sandra Leal: Thank you. I appreciate it.
