Asteres Inc

Pharmacies equipped with a ScriptCenter MX from Asteres are now able to stock OTC medications in the convenient automated pharmacy kiosks. Carrying an assortment of top-selling OTC items in its ScriptCenter has been a success for Guthrie Health, the first hospital pharmacy to take advantage of the new capability. With the addition of OTC products, Guthrie’s patients and employees can purchase a variety of health care items from the kiosk at any time, helping the pharmacy deliver convenient care, 24 hours a day. To pick up a prescription, users enroll at ScriptCenter or ScriptCenter.com and create a username and PIN; no login is required for OTC purchases. All transactions are recorded with a photo and signature capture for added security. ScriptCenter accepts debit, credit and flexible spending cards.

AdverseEvents Inc

A new online tool promises pharmacists a user-friendly alternative to the FDA’s notoriously complicated Web site for drug safety updates. Launched in September, AdverseEvents delivers accurate, real-time information on adverse drug events that have been reported to the FDA. Using its trademarked data sourcing system, RxFilter, AdverseEvents streamlines reports stored in FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System into a single, standardized database of more than 5,800 approved medications. The site’s free search tool lets pharmacists and patients quickly look up any drug to learn about its top reported side effects, therapeutic outcomes, and more. Users can also submit drug reviews and perform side-by-side comparisons of medications for a specific condition.

Trxade

Trxade, a pharmacist-owned and operated pharmaceutical purchasing tool, introduced an innovative service designed to give independent pharmacies the upper hand when it comes to fair pricing. At no cost to users, PharmaBayOnline.com delivers benchmark pharmaceutical pricing data that is updated on a daily basis. With this knowledge, independent pharmacies can determine how the prices they pay for generic drugs stack up against the acquisition costs of their peers—and make the appropriate strategic decisions. Pharma-Bay’s unique pricing model, known as Pricing Acquisition Cost (PAC), takes into account many factors, including a national average of pharmaceutical product prices that accounts for industry rebates and discounts. The tool is free for licensed buyers, and can be accessed by visiting the Pharma-Bay Web site and entering a pharmacy’s name, email address, and Drug Enforcement Administration number.
