ShopRite of Glen Burnie Offers Unique New Service

— To help customers live healthier lifestyles, ShopRite of Glen Burnie, MD, will now provide the free services of an in-store dietitian.

Larry Collins, President of Collins Family Markets, a family business that operates the ShopRite of Glen Burnie, announced today that Joanna Mackenzie, Registered Dietitian, has joined the organization. Ms. Mackenzie received her Bachelor of Science from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She completed her dietetic internship at Sage Graduate School and Albany Medical Center. Ms. Mackenzie received a Master of Science in Public Health from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. She has certifications in Maternal and Child Health and Food Systems, the Environment and Public Health.

By taking the expert out of the clinic and directly into our stores, Joanna's nutrition advice can be easily accessed and immediately applied by ShopRite customers.”

As the new Retail Dietitian for the ShopRite of Glen Burnie, Ms. Mackenzie can guide customers on a range of topics, from educating shoppers about reading labels and making healthy food choices, to counseling on food allergies and special dietary needs. Ms. Mackenzie will develop recipes and host a series of in-store healthand wellness classes, conduct workshops on healthy cooking, navigate the aisles with shoppers to identify healthy food alternatives, and hold Q & A's to dispel food myths and find ways to improve their diet.

As part of ShopRite’s Retail Dietitian team, Ms. Mackenzie is one of 115 Registered Dietitians who service ShopRite stores in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware and Maryland. Together these Dietitians offer nutrition advice, meal planning, and diet modification for specific medical conditions. ShopRite is proud to be one of the first retailer-owned cooperatives to offer Retail Dietitian service since the program launched in 2006.

ShopRite of Glen Burnie, MD, is conveniently located at 6716 Governor Richie Highway. The store is open Sunday-Saturday, 7am to 12am. The Pharmacy is open Monday-Friday, 8:30am-9pm; Saturday, 8:30am-6pm; and Sunday, 9am-5pm.
