Press Release
Arlington, Va. — No American will have access to more traditionally accurate political analysis than the attendees of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Political Action Committee (NACDS-PAC) Breakfast during the 2016 NACDS Annual Meeting.
“He accurately predicted 98 percent of the winners of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House and gubernatorial races in 2012 — which he also did in 2010, 2008 and 2006."
Dr. Larry J. Sabato, election analyst and founder of the University of Virginia Center for Politics, will keynote the breakfast event on Monday, April 18, in Palm Beach, Fla.
In making the announcement, NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE, said: “Dr. Sabato was a big hit among attendees at the 2012 NACDS Annual Meeting, when he spoke at a Business Program, and we are excited to welcome him back.
“In that highly dynamic Presidential election year of 2012, he went on to predict the outcome of the race for the White House with amazing accuracy, missing the outcome of just two states in the Electoral College. He also accurately predicted 98 percent of the winners of the U.S. Senate, U.S. House and gubernatorial races in 2012 — which he also did in 2010, 2008 and 2006. We look forward to seeing what Dr. Sabato has to say about this highly intriguing political season.”
Dr. Sabato’s success in predicting election outcomes has earned him recognition by diverse observers. In 2006, he was named the most accurate prognosticator by Fox News, MSNBC, CNBC and the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism.
He also is the author of 25 books and countless essays on politics, including The New York Times best-selling The Kennedy Half-Century — which also was featured in a PBS documentary that won him his second Emmy Award. His other books include a Feeding Frenzy, A More Perfect Constitution, The Year of Obama, and Pendulum Swing. In 2013, he won an Emmy Award for the documentary Out of Order, which he produced to highlight what he characterized as dysfunction in the U.S. Senate. TIME named Dr. Sabato’s Twitter feed as one of the 140 best of 2014.
A former Rhodes Scholar and Danforth Fellow, Dr. Sabato has received every major teaching award at the University of Virginia, including its highest honor, the Thomas Jefferson Award. He has also served on national and state commissions, including the National Commission for the Renewal of American Democracy and the Senate Campaign Finance Reform Panel. He is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Humanities fellowship and has been a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution, Oxford University, and Cambridge University. Dr. Sabato is a regular contributor to NPR and has appeared on myriad news channels.
The bipartisan NACDS-PAC supports Congressional candidates who understand and help to advance pro-pharmacy and pro-patient policies. The NACDS-PAC Breakfast is part of the NACDS Chain Members and PAC Breakfast, during which NACDS-related business is conducted. The event is open to NACDS chain members and to NACDS-PAC contributors.
News of Dr. Sabato’s engagement in the 2016 NACDS Annual Meeting is the latest in a series of highly significant announcements regarding the event. Recently, NACDS announced that former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives John Boehner (R-OH) and former Joint Chiefs Chairman Martin Dempsey will speak at the Sunday, April 17, and Tuesday, April 19, Business Programs, respectively.
