Robert Greenwood of Iowa received the National Community Pharmacists Association’s 2024 Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award as part of NCPA’s Annual Convention, being held Oct. 26-29 in Columbus, Ohio.
The Calvin J. Anthony Lifetime Achievement Award honors a pharmacist who has dedicated their career to the advancement of the pharmacy profession. Anthony’s long, distinguished pharmacy career saw him start as an independent community pharmacy owner in Stillwater, Okla., serve on multiple pharmacy organizational boards, serve as National Association of Retail Druggists (now NCPA) president from 1993-1994, and serve a five-year term as NCPA’s executive vice president.
Greenwood is a 1977 graduate of Creighton University School of Pharmacy in Omaha, Neb., and began his pharmacy career in Waterloo, Iowa. He owns and operates Greenwood Drug Inc. and Greenwood Compounding, Osterhaus Pharmacy and Denver Drug, all in Iowa.
He has been a powerful advocate for independent community pharmacies throughout the years, serving as a leader for various professional organizations including as NCPA president from 2010-2011, the American Pharmacists Association and the Iowa Pharmacy Association. Greenwood has mentored many students as a preceptor for the University of Iowa and the Creighton University School of Pharmacy. He spent 12 years as a member of the Waterloo City Council and in August of 2024 joined Creighton University’s Board of Trustees. Greenwood and his wife, Chery, have three children.
