Rite Aid Foundation Donates $125,000 to American Red Cross to Assist With Hurricane Matthew Relief Efforts

The Rite Aid Foundation has announced a $125,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help the victims, families, and communities across the Southeastern United States that were affected by Hurricane Matthew.

CAMP HILL, Pa. (Oct. 13, 2016) - The Rite Aid Foundation announced today a $125,000 donation to the American Red Cross to help the victims, families and communities across the Southeastern United States that were affected by Hurricane Matthew. The donation will support relief efforts in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, where Rite Aid operates more than 500 stores.

"Our hearts and prayers go out to everyone affected by Hurricane Matthew," said Ken Martindale, Rite Aid CEO of stores, president of Rite Aid Corporation and president of The Rite Aid Foundation. "The Rite Aid Foundation is proud to work with our community partners to provide relief and support to those in need."

The Foundation will also donate up to $25,000 of in-kind product to the Feeding American Food Bank in North Carolina and Harvest Hope Food Bank in South Carolina. The donation will include canned food items, personal hygiene products, infant care products and cleaning supplies.

"The effects of Hurricane Matthew are still being felt in several southeast states including North and South Carolina, where deadly floods have cut off entire communities," said Jeri Sims, American Red Cross Regional CEO. "We are eternally grateful for our valuable partnership with The Rite Aid Foundation, whose generosity will provide support through disaster relief for victims of this tragic event."

Since its inception in 2001, The Rite Aid Foundation has awarded more than $27 million to non-profit organizations. Additionally, Rite Aid, through the efforts of its customers, supplier partners and associates, has also raised more than $75 million for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country since 1994.
