During the 2011-2012 season, Publix Pharmacies are offering flu immunizations—including traditional flu shots and a needle-free option—administered by trained Publix Pharmacists.
“Offering seasonal flu shots is an example of the premier service our customers expect from Publix,” said Maria Brous, Publix director of media and community relations. “Publix cares about its customers, and vaccinations also help lessen the spread of communicable diseases in our community.”
All Publix pharmacies offer the traditional flu shots for $30. Publix accepts cash, Medicare Part B, and many other third-party insurances as payment for flu shots. Restrictions apply for minors and vary based on state laws.
Selected pharmacies are offering the Fluzone High Dose, which is recommended for persons aged 65 and older. For customers who meet the requirements for High Dose, wish to receive that vaccine, and have Medicare coverage, it will be billed to Medicare. Those who do not have Medicare can receive the shot for $60.
In addition, some Publix pharmacies will offer new alternatives to the traditional flu shot for customers who want protection against the flu.
