Pharmacy Times Announces Winn-Dixie as Strategic Alliance Partner
Winn-Dixie joins chains, supermarkets, and mass merchants in the journal’s unique alliance program
Plainsboro, NJ (September 21, 2011)—Pharmacy Times has announced a partnership with Winn-Dixie in the pharmacy journal’s unique Strategic Alliance Program (SAP), which brings the 114-year old monthly publication directly to the pharmacists in this chain. The August 2011 edition of Pharmacy Times is the first issue these employees received. As John J. Fegan, RPh, vice president, pharmacy, told his pharmacists, “Our partnership with Pharmacy Times is meant to benefit you in keeping you updated on some of the latest health information affecting pharmacists and your everyday pharmacy practice.”
“We are really very pleased to welcome Winn-Dixie to our Strategic Alliance Program, and look forward to a long and productive partnership,” said Tighe Blazier, executive vice president of MJH & Associates, the publisher of Pharmacy Times. “By joining our SAP program, Winn-Dixie has joined with other pharmacists across the nation who receive our journal each month and allows them to keep up-to-date on the very latest in health care and pharmacy trends.”
The Jacksonville, Florida-based Winn-Dixie supermarket chain operates 484 stores with 379 containing in-store pharmacies in Florida, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. This year, the company remodeled its stores, and is now offering an expanded produce section, a deli department serving hot and prepared foods, a Wi-Fi-enables sitting area where free coffee is served, a wide selection of wines, cheese, and fresh seafood, and importantly, a remodeled pharmacy with a wellness center.
“Patients can combine their shopping visit with a trip to the pharmacy for their health-related medications, availing themselves to the services that a Winn-Dixie pharmacist provides,” explained Fegan.
The SAP program is a hallmark of Pharmacy Times and serves retail pharmacists where they practice by providing this well-respected journal. “Pharmacy Times is the leader in pharmacy publishing, and it our pleasure to be expanding our SAP program and grow our retail pharmacy circulation to the highest in the industry,” said Mike Hennessy, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of MJH & Associates.
Other Strategic Alliance Partners include Walgreens, Walmart, CVS Caremark/CVS Pharmacy, Shopko Pharmacy, Kroger, Publix, Rite Aid, A&P, among others, and the program continues to expand, according to Blazier, and currently encompasses the most robust list of active pharmacists in the country.
