Pharmacy Hero: Technician Continues Helping Community When She Leaves Work

Today, we’re applauding the work of Makayla Morales, CPhT, who works at a Walmart Pharmacy in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Morales works hard every day to care for her patients, helping them obtain 90-day prescriptions and finding ways to afford their medications during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

Morales’s work doesn’t stop when she leaves the pharmacy, however. Morales and her sister have been making masks for the community, using their own supplies and donating the masks to anyone who asks.

“What started out as just a few masks for close friends quickly became these 2 women making multiple masks, and even shipping them as far as Chicago,” said Alysha Hale, PharmD, in a message to Pharmacy Times®. “We are very lucky to have someone like Makayla in our pharmacy and taking care of our community.”

Pharmacy Times® wants to celebrate the amazing pharmacy staff members who are on the front lines every day. Nominate someone in your pharmacy by emailing AAntrim@pharmacytimes.com with their name, position, and why they’re a hero!
