"As a pharmacist, I have a strong interest in patient education and promoting health and wellness."

Tell us about your career and what you do now.

I create pharmacy and health content by leveraging platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn to share valuable health-related information. My content includes educational videos on medication management, tips for maintaining a healthy lifestyle, explanations of common health conditions and vaccines, life as a pharmacist, and lots of jokes, all strategically using humorous visual aids, infographics, and animations to enhance engagement.

How did you begin combining your interests in pharmacy, health, and media creation?

My passion for health care and pharmacy [pairs with] my desire to share knowledge and help others. As a pharmacist, I have a strong interest in patient education and promoting health and wellness. Combining my passion for content creation and my expertise as a pharmacist, along with my interests in comedy, I am able to create content discussing everything from medication management to wellness tips to prescription back orders.

I also speak on current events in health care and public service announcements on important health topics. I try to stay informed and adapt because health care is a constantly evolving field, so it’s essential that I’m up-to-date on current events and the latest research, guidelines, and trends. This helps me adapt my content to address current health issues and meet the needs of my audience.

How do you make health information entertaining and digestible?

I like to infuse my content with humor and personality to make it entertaining and memorable. Adding a touch of humor can help lighten the mood and make health topics less intimidating for my audience. I connect health information with real-life situations and everyday experiences that my audience can relate to, showing how pharmacy and health topics can impact their daily lives. All this drives engagement and an open dialogue with my audience, encouraging them to ask questions, share their experiences, and provide feedback. Engaging in conversations with my audience helps build trust and credibility.

What advice would you give pharmacists who might want to develop their online presence?

Determine your area of expertise or passion. Identifying your niche will help you create focused and relevant content. Authenticity is the key to building trust and credibility with your audience, so share your genuine experiences, insights, and perspectives. Just be yourself; your authenticity will resonate with your audience and set you apart from others. The process is trial and error and there’s no such thing as “perfect content,” so don’t feel pressured to create perfection right from the start. Begin by posting regularly, then gradually expand your presence over time. Consistency is more important than perfection, so aim to maintain a regular posting schedule.
