Pet Peeves - August 2012

Puppy Love.

My pet peeve is people who bring lapdogs in the store and put them on the counter—where they proceed to sniff and lick everything in sight! (Provide your best advice for how to handle this situation in the space to the right, and you'll be entered into a drawing to win an iPad!)

The Speed of e-Business.

The week-long “technical difficulty” at our switch that caused electronic Rxs to show up hours late, many via fax and some via computer, with each patient’s orders coming in dribs and drabs every 15 or 20 minutes.

My Name Is Not Siri.

One time I had a patient who asked me to call his doctor’s office to verify the time of his appointment!

Customer Knows Best?

I get frustrated when the patients picking up insulin watch you go to the baskets to pull their filled script (because that is where the bag with the patient info and price label is) and tell you, “It’s in the refrigerator.” And they repeat this over and over as you are looking for their bag.

Drive-Through Drama.

Have you ever had 3 phone calls from the same drive-through line of 9 cars calling to ask “What’s taking so long?” It happened to me! The funny part was that there were no customers inside. I just kindly remind them that the drive-through is for convenience and not speed.

Going Long.

When you hear, “Excuse me! Where is the baby aspirin located?” and look up from checking scripts or answering the phone to see a customer in the aisle 20 feet from the pharmacy counter. All while my OTC associate is standing 5 feet away.
