Jayan Nair, MD Joins Clinical Team at FCS Sarasota Downtown Location

Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS) is pleased to announce that Board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist Jayan Nair, MD has joined the the Sarasota Downtown clinical team. Dr. Nair joined the statewide practice as a hospitalist in 2022 and is now providing outpatient care to patients at 1970 Gulf St., Sarasota, Florida 34236.

For more than a decade, Dr. Nair has provided hematology and oncology care in community, academic and hospital settings. His involvement in clinical research has been instrumental in advancing chemotherapeutics and behavioral interventions. He has authored and co-authored several abstracts published in prestigious journals and presented at professional symposiums.

“The developments in oncology care stemming from Dr. Nair’s research have made a vast impact on the oncology world,” said FCS President & Managing Physician Lucio N. Gordan, MD. “When not focused on his patients, he directs much of his attention to exploring how we, as physicians, can provide better, higher quality care to our patients, not only through his efforts in research, but as a mentor to his colleagues.”

Dr. Nair received his medical degree from T D Medical College at the University of Kerala, India, and then completed his Internal Medicine residency at Maulana Azad Medical College at the University of Delhi, India. He then completed a second residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.

“As an oncology practice, we are unique in that we bring the experts and the latest treatments, genetic testing and technology to the patients, directly in the communities where they live and work. Not only is this convenient for the patients, but it is effective in generating the best possible outcomes,” said FCS Chief Executive Officer Nathan H. Walcker. “Dr. Nair is an excellent addition to our growing team of hematology and oncology physicians in the Sarasota area.”

In addition to traditional treatments for cancer, patients visiting the FCS Sarasota Downtown office have access to genetic testing, including next-generation sequencing (NGS), care management services, nutrition counseling, imaging and radiology services, and much more.
