Open to the media, NACDS event highlights life-saving, cost-saving programs August 25-28
Alexandria, Va. — Showcasing the value of community pharmacy and its role in improving health and reducing costs, the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) will debut a new interactive pharmacy feature during its Pharmacy & Technology Conference at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado August 25-28.
Pharmacist Connect, an interactive, one-to-one experience, will offer counseling and other pharmacy services right on the exhibit floor. Denver-area pharmacists from NACDS chain member companies will be available to provide conference exhibitors with pharmacy services. Among the services that may be provided are medication counseling, health screenings, flu vaccinations and first aid treatment.
The program is open to the media to help raise awareness among their audiences of new ways that pharmacies help patients improve their quality of life while preventing life-threatening conditions and high-cost treatments down the road. Otherwise, the event is open to Conference registrants.
Pharmacists from Denver-area pharmacies including Costco, Kmart, Pharmaca Integrative Pharmacy, Rite Aid, Safeway, Sam’s Club, Walgreens and Walmart will participate in the Pharmacist Connect program.

The NACDS Pharmacy & Technology Conference brings together decision makers from 130 retail companies — including chain drug stores, supermarkets and mass merchants who collectively represent over 80,000 retail outlets – and suppliers of prescription drugs, over-the-counter products and home healthcare.
“There is no greater venue than the NACDS Pharmacy & Technology Conference to showcase the important role that pharmacists provide to patients every day to help improve health outcomes and reduce healthcare costs,” said NACDS President and CEO Steven C. Anderson, IOM, CAE. “Pharmacist Connect will bring the neighborhood community pharmacy right to Conference attendees offering services including counseling, screenings and immunizations. This interactive experience is just one more example of how NACDS is revolutionizing industry trade shows.”
In 2013, NACDS will debut the Total Store Expo August 10-13 in Las Vegas. This new show will unify three NACDS meetings: the Supply Chain & Logistics Conference, the Marketplace and Technology Conference and the Pharmacy & Technology Conference into one powerful event that will cut across departments and across the entire store. Concepts such as Pharmacist Connect are just one example of the types of innovative programming that will be found at the NACDS Total Store Expo.
