PRESS RELEASE
Miami, Florida (Jan. 26, 2013) — Michael Drysch had a hot hand during Friday’s NBA game between the Miami Heat and the Detroit Pistons—and he didn’t play for either team. The McHenry, Ill., native was the Grand Prize Winner in the Carmex Half-Court Hero contest.
With one attempt, Drysch sunk a skyhook from half court. By sinking the shot, Drysch won $75,000 for himself and scored a $75,000 donation for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Lebron James Family Foundation. The half-court contest was a partnership between Carma Laboratories, makers of Carmex® lip balm and skin care products, and LebronJames.com.
“We are thrilled to be part of this electrifying moment and to present checks for $75,000 to these wonderful organizations and to Mr. Drysch,” said Mike Pietsch, executive vice president for Carma Laboratories. “The Boys & Girls Clubs of America and the Lebron James Family Foundation serve our communities in so many extraordinary ways; we are honored to support their wonderful programs.”

As the winner of the Carmex Half-Court Hero contest, Drysch won a trip to Miami and the opportunity to take one half-court shot. The contest was open to participants via Facebook and Twitter. The Half-Court Hero event was the top prize in a promotional celebration of Carma Laboratories 75th anniversary. The Milwaukee-based company is a third-generation, family owned organization that was founded in 1937. Carma Laboratories has partnered with LeBronJames.com since 2011.
As part of the promotion, Friday was “Carmex Night” at the Miami Heat’s American Airlines Arena. Fans were given Carmex logo thundersticks to use during the game and were presented Carmex lip balm and Carmex skin care products as they left.
