Addition of long-term care pharmacies strengthens service of eastern North Carolina and southwest Florida.
Guardian Pharmacy LLC, one of the largest long-term care pharmacy companies in the US, has added Extensive Pharmaceutical Services (EPS) in Kinston, North Carolina, and Patient Care Pharmacy Services in Port Charlotte, Florida, to its family. Southern Pharmacy Services (SPS) and Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida (SEFL) — both members of the Guardian Pharmacy network – partnered in the acquisitions of EPS and Patient Care, respectively. The additions strengthen the company’s presence in southwest Florida and eastern North Carolina.
Since inception, Guardian Pharmacy has experienced a compound annual growth rate of more than 32 percent. The addition of EPS and Patient Care increases Guardian’s customer base to more than 52,000 residents across 14 states and further enhances its ability to service the regional and local needs of communities in these areas.
Extensive Pharmaceutical Services
Founded in 2002 by Glenn Whitley, RPh, EPS primarily services assisted living and behavior health communities. EPS’ customers will now be serviced through SPS’ Pink Hill location where Whitley will serve as director of pharmacy integration. SPS is led by Chad and Marybeth Terry who have been part of the Guardian network since 2011 and have 30 years of combined experience.
“SPS’ service-driven model, the Terry’s well-regarded industry reputation and the support from Guardian Pharmacy makes this the right move for our pharmacy and most importantly our customers,” said Whitley. “I’m very confident that together we can help our customers face the challenges in this changing industry and greatly improve their ability to provide superior care.”
Patient Care Pharmacy Services
Since 2000, Patient Care has been a preferred pharmacy for assisted living facilities from Naples to Sarasota. Moving forward, founder Mike Klein, RPh, will continue as director of pharmacy operations at Patient Care’s facility in Port Charlotte.
“This strategic partnership with Guardian provides our pharmacy with business resources and support so that we can focus even more on our customer relationships,” said Klein. “As the sixth Guardian pharmacy in Florida, we’re now an integral part in the company’s network and ensuring that long-term care communities’ needs are met statewide.”
Alan Traster, president of Guardian SEFL, will assume the role of president for the southwest Florida pharmacy. Traster joined the Guardian family in 2004 and brings more than 35 years of experience to this position.
“Both Glenn and Mike have built respected pharmacies offering a high level of personalized service,” said Kendall Forbes, executive vice president of sales and operations at Guardian Pharmacy. “These strategic partnerships will enhance our presence in these key local markets and allow us to provide even greater service.”
Guardian Pharmacy is noted for its unique Local-Autonomy business model, which empowers pharmacy owners to focus on providing customers with creative solutions and expert service while benefitting from the business, financial and leadership resources offered by Guardian’s corporate support team.
