In this video, Nebraska Medical Center ophthalmologist Sushma Rai, MD, gives an overview of glaucoma, known as the “silent thief of sight.” She explains the types of glaucoma, how they differ from each other, and how the disease affects eye biology and vision. Dr. Rai explains the causes of the disease, risk factors, and the exams that can detect it. She also describes the typical course of treatment, which can include 1 or more types of eye drop and, in extreme cases, surgery.
