Indication:

Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc announced that its subsidiary, Watson Laboratories Inc, has received approval from the FDA on its abbreviated new drug applications for metoprolol succinate extended-release tablets USP in the 25- and 50-mg strengths. The tablets are the generic equivalent to Toprol XL tablets. Metoprolol Succinate is a beta-blocker used to treat angina, heart failure, and high blood pressure.

Hyoscyamine Sulfate Tablets

Indication:

Paddock Laboratories Inc announced the launch of Hyoscyamine Sulfate Tablets, USP, oral, 0.125 mg; Hyoscyamine Sulfate Tablets, oral disintegrating tablet, 0.125 mg; and Hyoscyamine Sulfate Tablets, USP, sublingual, 0.125 mg. This product may be used in functional intestinal disorders to reduce symptoms such as those seen in mild dysenteries and diverticulitis. It also can be used to control gastric secretion, visceral spasm, and hypermotility in cystitis, pylorospasm, and associated abdominal cramps. Along with appropriate analgesics, the product is indicated in symptomatic relief of biliary and renal colic and as a drying agent in the relief of symptoms of acute rhinitis.

Tacrolimus Capsules

Sandoz recently introduced Tacrolimus Capsules in the United States; Sandoz was the first company to receive US market approval. Tacrolimus, a generic equivalent to Prograf, is an immunosuppressive treatment indicated for the prophylaxis of organ rejection in patients receiving allogenic liver, kidney, or heart transplants. It is recommended that Tacrolimus be used concomitantly with adrenal corticosteroids. The product will be available in 0.5-, 1-, and 5-mg strengths.

Sumatriptan Succinate Tablets

Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc, a wholly owned subsidiary of Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited (RLL), recently announced that RLL received final FDA approval of Sumatriptan Succinate Tablets, 25 and 50 mg. The product is bioequivalent and has the same therapeutic effect as that of the reference listed drug Imitrex. Sumatriptan Succinate Tablets are indicated for the acute treatment of migraine attacks with or without aura in adults.
