Food Lion, Coca-Cola Zero, and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association will once again offer the Food Lion Essay Contest as part of the 2016 CIAA Basketball Tournament.

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion, together with Coca-Cola Zero and the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), are proud to once again offer the Food Lion Essay Contest as part of the 2016 CIAA Basketball Tournament. A total of $35,000 in scholarship grants will be awarded to CIAA students.
Students of the CIAA are encouraged to submit a 500 to 700 word essay answering the question — “How is safety on campus impacting your CIAA school and what changes would you like to see happen?”
The contest will start today and run through — Saturday, Jan. 23. Four grand prize winners will be chosen to receive a $5,000 scholarship. They will also receive two tickets to the tournament, two nights of hotel accommodations along with $500 for travel expenses. In addition, 15 first place winners will also be awarded $1,000 scholarships.
“Through committed partners like Food Lion and Coca-Cola Zero, the CIAA can achieve our goals of providing students with opportunities to further their education,” says Jacqie McWilliams, CIAA commissioner. “Together we are making an impact on the lives of our future leaders and it feels great.”
