The American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) honored Nicholas G. Popovich, PhD, professor and associate dean of professional development at University of Illinois College of Pharmacy, at the AACP Annual Meeting held in Nashville, Tennessee.
In honor of his dedication to the Association and to pharmacy education, Dr. Popovich received the AACP’s 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award. The Award recognizes and promotes those who have made a significant contribution through instruction, leadership/service, and research/scholarship over a minimum of 25 years.
Dr. Popovich’s career in pharmacy education began in January of 1973. “Since that time, it has been one of my goals to contribute to the growth of the profession through academia,” he told Pharmacy Times in a video interview.
His work in academia is grounded in nurturing students’ development of knowledge and skills through performance-based outcomes. Dr. Popovich also served as president of AACP from 1991-1992.
