Directions in Pharmacy® Announces Move to Virtual Conferences

Directions in Pharmacy® is a full-day regional conference for community and health-system pharmacists.

Pharmacy Times® Continuing Education (PTCE), a leader in continuing education for retail, health-system, oncology, managed care, and specialty pharmacists, announced Friday that the 10th annual Directions in Pharmacy® continuing education (CE) spring conference series is transitioning to a virtual format for 3 of its 4 events to ensure safety amid the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) global pandemic.

“Pharmacists are vital to our health care system. Educating our attendees in a safe environment is essential,” said Jim Palatine, RPh, MBA, president of PTCE, in a prepared statement. “That is why we have made the decision to transition the first 3 meetings in the Directions in Pharmacy® continuing education spring conference series to live virtual CE-accredited webcasts, where attendees can learn and earn CE credits from the comfort and shelter of their own homes.”

The 2020 meetings scheduled for April 25 and May 16, as well as April 4, are being transitioned into live broadcasts. The CE-accredited broadcasts are following a similar agenda via live video stream and be offered on a proprietary broadcasting platform. An announcement regarding the fourth conference, scheduled for June 13, 2020 in New Jersey, has not been made.

Directions in Pharmacy® is a full-day regional conference for community and health-system pharmacists. It offers them the opportunity to participate in interactive sessions that provide the most current and relevant information to implement in their practices. Sessions focus on disease-state management, clinical data and treatment guidelines, as well as best practices for optimal care for patients in a wide variety of therapeutic areas. Expert faculty speakers are addressing topics that include treatment and management of diabetes, biosimilars, cardiovascular disease, immuno-oncology, infectious diseases, and immunization recommendations.

Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, each PTCE meeting provides attendees with the opportunity to earn up to 6.0 CE credits, including law, patient safety and immunization credit.
