Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy Launches Community Relations Department to Expand Corporate Citizenship Initiatives

Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy--the nation's largest privately owned specialty pharmacy--recently announced that Steve Wolbert has been hired as its first Community Relations Liaison.

Diplomat Specialty Pharmacy, the nation’s largest, privately owned specialty pharmacy, recently announced that Steve Wolbert has been hired as its first Community Relations Liaison. Wolbert will work to strengthen the company’s philanthropic efforts locally and statewide.

“One of Diplomat's long-term goals is to expand our corporate citizenship initiatives,” said chief executive officer Phil Hagerman. “Steve's strong ties to the local community added to his previous work in East Lansing and Ann Arbor will compliment Diplomat's commitment to taking an active role in the transformation of Flint, Genesee County, and the resurgent role of business in the State of Michigan. This position is one of the important building blocks to help us achieve that vision. We are pleased to have Steve join our team.”

According to Wolbert, Hagerman’s vision for Diplomat — and the role they hope to play in the city of Flint and the State of Michigan – is one he supports personally as well as professionally. "Diplomat could have located their corporate offices anywhere in the country and they chose to stay in Flint, MI. Today, they have over 600 employees in their Saginaw Street location and are hiring people every day. This position hopes to build on that commitment through providing support and actively seeking partnerships with organizations that have the same passion for our city and state.”

Tim Herman, chief executive officer, Genesee Regional Chamber of Commerce, also applauds Diplomat’s decision to create this position. “Diplomat continues to play a central role in the reinvention of Flint and Genesee County. Creating this new community focused position is yet another great example of Diplomat’s commitment to our region. We look forward to working with them on future philanthropic initiatives.”

Steve is a 2001 graduate of Powers Catholic High School, 2005 graduate of Michigan State University, and 2011 graduate of St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. He is the president of Genesee County Habitat for Humanity’s board of directors and has created a service-immersion program in Flint, MI that has grown from 24 participants in 2009 to over 60 participants in 2012. He is the former director of development at St. Mary Student Parish in Ann Arbor, MI, director of development for St. John Vianney and St. Pius X schools, and director of student outreach and development at St. John Student Parish in East Lansing, MI.
