Number 5: Opioid Prescribing Limits Across the States. In February 2019, 15 states, including Alaska, Hawaii, and Colorado, passed laws limiting opioid prescribing for acute pain in opioid native patients to a 7-day supply.

Number 4: Tamiflu Set to Switch to OTC Status. In July 2019, manufacturer Sanofi signed a deal with Roche Pharmaceuticals to obtain exclusive OTC rights for the antiviral agent Tamiflu, a neuraminidase inhibitor indicated for the treatment and prophylaxis of the influenza virus.

Number 3: Uncertainty Remains in the Match or Mismatch for the 2019-2020 Flu Vaccine. In October 2019, a study indicated that there was an antigenic mismatch of the 2019 Southern Hemisphere influenza vaccine with the H3N2 component, resulting in a lower vaccine effectiveness during the H3N2-dominated influenza seasons.

Number 2: Recall Expanded for Losartan Potassium Tablets. In January 2019, a recall of Torrent Pharmaceuticals Limited’s Losartan Potassium Tablets USP was expanded to include 8 additional lots, bringing the total to 10 lots recalled at the consumer level.
