PRESS RELEASE

WOONSOCKET, R.I., Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CVS Health (NYSE: CVS) announced today that MinuteClinic, the walk-in medical clinic of CVS Health, has opened its 1,000th MinuteClinic location nationwide. The 1,000th MinuteClinic is located in the nation's Capitol at the CVS/pharmacy location on Dupont Circle in Washington, D.C.

Since opening the first walk-in, retail clinic 15 years ago, MinuteClinic has expanded access to convenient and high quality health care services in communities across 31 states and the District of Columbia and provided care through more than 26 million patient visits. MinuteClinic was the first retail medical clinic to be fully accredited by the Joint Commission, the accrediting agency for more than 20,000 hospitals and health systems and related organizations.

"This 1,000th clinic milestone reflects our commitment to expand much needed access to health care across the United States," said Andrew Sussman, M.D., MinuteClinic President and Executive Vice President/Associate Chief Medical Officer, CVS Health. "Whether it's treating patients in urban centers like Washington, D.C. or developing new ways to deliver care in other settings, the MinuteClinic mission to provide accessible health care will continue to evolve. In the years ahead, we intend to offer new and innovative medical services to patients through in-store clinics, expanded telehealth services and clinical collaborations with a growing list of more than 60 major health care system affiliates nationwide."

MinuteClinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants at locations nationwide specialize in family health care and can diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common family illnesses such as strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections. Minor wounds, abrasions, skin conditions and joint sprains are treated, and common vaccinations such as influenza, tetanus, pneumonia and Hepatitis A & B are available at most locations. Walk-in camp, sports and college physicals are available daily. In addition, MinuteClinic administers a series of wellness services designed to help patients identify lifestyle changes needed to improve their current and future health, including screenings and monitoring for diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

At the conclusion of each visit, patients receive educational material, a prescription (when clinically appropriate) and a visit summary. A copy of the diagnostic record can be sent electronically, or by fax or mail to a primary care provider with patient permission.

For the majority of patients and services, health care insurance is accepted at MinuteClinic, which is now in network with more than 300 insurance carriers offering multiple plans nationwide. For patients paying cash or credit, treatment prices are posted at each clinic and on www.minuteclinic.com.
