Colorado Pharmacy Company to Offer Patients Free Medicare Plan Reviews

According to Good Day Pharmacy, plans change each year, and the best plan in 2020 may not be the best plan for 2021.

Good Day Pharmacies, an independently-owned company in Colorado, will be offering free Medicare plan reviews in all 11 of its locations beginning October 15, 2020. According to the company, plans change each year, and the best plan in 2020 may not be the best plan for 2021.

Pharmacists are the most accessible health professional, and Good Day Pharmacy provides services beyond conventional pharmacy care, according to the company. Using a state-of-the-art tool and knowledge to help seniors navigate Medicare D drug plans, Good Day pharmacists can help patients choose a plan that is customized to their own medication list.

“Now more than ever, we must be a local resource for Open Enrollment to help seniors in our communities navigate the process of reviewing Medicare plan options," said Vicki Einhellig, CEO of Good Day Pharmacy, in a prepared statement. “Our pharmacy teams see most patients a minimum of once every month, and they trust us to provide solid, unbiased advice and solutions regarding their health.”

Evaluating and choosing the right plan with the best coverage is overwhelming for most people. Studies show that many seniors do not feel confident in their ability to navigate through the Medicare Open Enrollment process. For this reason, patients tend to stay on their current plan year after year, despite changes in coverage, often leaving them paying more than necessary. A 2017 study found that about 90% of Medicare beneficiaries are not on the most cost-effective plan for their medications.

Plan comparisons help patients by reducing stress and saving money. Studies indicate that Medicare beneficiaries save an average of $300 per year by switching to the lowest cost Part D plan that covers their medications. Medicare plan reviews at Good Day Pharmacy provide customized handouts for patients showing their copay on each drug, premium costs, deductibles, total out-of-pocket cost for the year, and which phase of coverage they are on each month.

“Our free reviews simplify the plan selection process by highlighting the top 3 plans with the greatest coverage for the patient’s specific drug regimen. We have strong relationships with our patients and our communities. We want to retain these relationships, maintain customer loyalty, and offer more value,” said Joseph Poling, PharmD, operations manager for Good Day, in a prepared statement.

Good Day will perform plan reviews during Medicare’s open enrollment period, from October 15 to December 7, 2020. Any senior with Medicare or choosing their first Medicare plan is eligible for the service. Patients do not have to be current Good Day customers to utilize the service, according to the company.
