Clumsy Thief Steals Pills from Pharmacy

Police are investigating how a burglar managed to steal several bottles of prescription medicine from a pharmacy in Enid, Oklahoma, on February 12, 2015.

Video surveillance shows the burglar walking in front of Scheffe’s Prescription Shop West and taking a few seconds to look into the store. Then, the suspect breaks the bottom portion of the glass door and quickly crawls through.

On the way out, while holding a flashlight and an undisclosed amount of medication in a bag, the burglar hits his or her head on a portion of the door and falls to the ground. The video then shows the burglar getting up and running out of the store.

According to Enid News, police were dispatched to the pharmacy around 10 p.m. and found pill bottles knocked down on shelves and also on the ground. Police said the suspect used a hammer to break the glass door, and he or she walked directly to where the medications were stored.

The burglar selected a few items and then put them in a black plastic bag. According to police, the suspect was in the pharmacy for about a minute.

The suspect also tried to throw the hammer near a trash can, but the tool bounced off and fell to the floor, according to a Koco News report.

“I don’t want to wish anyone injury or ill will, but by the same token, he cost me money by breaking glass and stealing drugs,” pharmacist Steve Pryor told Koco News. “I hope someone recognizes him. I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.”

Police urged those with information about the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 580-233-6233. A $1000 reward has been offered to anyone who can provide information that leads to the arrest or prosecution of the crime.
