First Professional Development Provider to Integrate with BPS Reporting Platform in Real Time
PRESS RELEASE
ASHP announced today that it now offers board-certified pharmacists real-time reporting of their recertification credits for the Ambulatory Care Pharmacy, Critical Care Pharmacy, Pediatric Pharmacy, and Pharmacotherapy specialties.
ASHP is the first professional development provider to integrate with the Board of Pharmacy Specialties’ (BPS’s) reporting platform to allow board-certified pharmacists to track the number of credits they have earned toward recertification in real time.
“The integration of the BPS platform with ASHP’s eLearning system is a natural progression of our services to support pharmacists in achieving and maintaining advanced credentials,” said ASHP’s Senior Vice President of Professional Development Julie Webb, B.S.Pharm. “The integration offers a convenient way for board-certified practitioners to easily know their recertification credit status at any given time over the course of the recertification cycle.”
After a board-certified pharmacist passes an online recertification activity assessment on ASHP’s eLearning portal, ASHP will automatically report the earned credit hours to BPS’s system. The credits will appear immediately in the user’s professional profile, a process that previously took four to six weeks after an assessment expired.
As the leading continuing pharmacy education provider in the country, ASHP offers recertification programs in a variety of formats, including live events, recordings, and home study readings. The application-based activities discuss national standards, guidelines, or cutting-edge clinical trials, so learners can easily apply their knowledge to improve patient care. This practical method simulates common situations that pharmacists may encounter in their daily practice. ASHP has also created recertification materials for Oncology Pharmacy and is an approved professional development provider for certified geriatric pharmacists.
