The 77th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association is being held in San Diego June 9 through June 13
The 77th Annual Scientific Sessions of the American Diabetes Association starts today in San Diego and runs through June 13. The American Journal of Pharmacy Benefits will bring you all the latest diabetes news from this meeting at our ADA Conference page here.
Main events include the President’s Oral Session on Tuesday, June 13, from 9:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., which will feature the planning committee’s picks of the best research conducted by students. A symposium presented by the Foot Care Interest Group for its 30th Anniversary, which will be held on Saturday, June 10, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. will discuss how treatments have improved in this area of study over the past 3 decades.
Central themes for this year’s meeting include: behavioral medicine, acute and chronic complications; clinical nutrition, education, and exercise; clinical diabetes/therapeutics; epidemiology/genetics; immunology/transplantation; insulin action/molecular metabolism; integrated physiology/obesity; and islet biology/insulin secretion. Case studies, symposia, oral presentations, poster discussions and other forms of communicating new information and research.
More than 200 sessions will be presented on recent research including type 1 diabetes immune intervention trials, the integrated results of the CANVAS program, and the results of a clinical trial that looked at metformin’s effect on vascular adverse lesions in patients with type 1 diabetes.
Special events include a free 5K@ADA Fun Run/Walk Sunday, June 11, at 6:30 a.m. and a walking challenge throughout the 5 days to see which participant takes the most steps. The goal is to hit 77,000 steps for the 77th Anniversary of ADA. Wear red on Sunday to promote research and diabetes prevention.
