The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy has kicked off AMCP Nexus 2022 with a wide variety of educational sessions and policy discussions covering such hot topics as prescription digital therapeutics and HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis, and Pharmacy Times® will provide coverage of the meeting.

The conference, held October 11-14 at the Gaylord National Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, is expected to attract approximately 2500 pharmacists, health care executives, and other professionals involved in managing the pharmacy benefits of nearly 300 million Americans.

The programming features more than 26 educational sessions including continuing education opportunities, 3 keynote presentations, 15 satellite symposia, an exhibition hall, and networking events.

The meeting kicks off with a keynote address by Leana Wen, MD, MSc, former commissioner of the Baltimore City Health Department in Maryland. She is the author of 2 books: Lifelines: A Doctor's Journey in the Fight for Public Health, and When Doctors Don't Listen: How to Avoid Misdiagnoses and Unnecessary Tests.

With a nod to the conference’s location near Washington, D.C., 1 session will focus on state and federal policy updates, including one on the midterm election outlook and its health care implications.

Additional sessions will look at the impact of managed care pharmacists on transgender care and oncology biosimilars.
