The National Community Pharmacists Association (NCPA) Annual Convention, which takes place this weekend, October 26-29 in San Diego, California, will provide plenty of opportunities for community pharmacists to delve into a number of educational and informative sessions.
Pharmacy Times will be on site to provide coverage.
Here are some of the sessions to watch for at the conference:
- Adherence Optimization: Targeting Strategies, Pharmacy VIPs, and Payer Programs. Offering a med synchronization program is 1 thing, making it a core tenet of the business is another. Pharmacists need a critical mass of patients enrolled to achieve cash flow, inventory, and other operating efficiencies. Build a program strategically by targeting interventions for the most important patients. Love it or hate it, adherence payer programs can make or break pharmacy profits. Pharmacists can learn how to get the numbers to work in their favor with this program and join their peers to discuss tested methods for maximizing a pharmacy’s adherence return on investment.
- The Long-Term-Care Pharmacy of the Future, Today. If operating a thriving, long-term-care business were an exam, would you ace the test or need an improvement plan? Top-performing LTC pharmacies focus their energy on increasing operational efficiencies and developing facility relationships as a process of continuous improvement. This session allows pharmacists to take a step from back their own operations and assess their ability to fully use tools already available in their pharmacies, meet customer needs, and optimize delivery routes, courier integration, and technology.
- Hemp: Positioning Yourself as the Truth Expert. All types of stores are selling it, doctors are recommending it, and patients are seeking and buying it. Get the latest on the business opportunity, the legal and regulatory front, potential risks, and the science behind it all.
- Expanding the Market for Your Packaging. Pharmacists know adherence packaging helps patients and improves workflow, but how can they justify the technology investment? The most successful convenience packaging pharmacies have increased their market share by packaging their services to benefit their most high-risk patients. Referral sources from caregivers, nursing facilities, and providers, can be game-changers. Providing concierge-like or “medical-at-home” packaging services to patients who might otherwise be in a nursing home can help them stay home and in the community longer. Get the ins-and-outs on billing services, potential services, and referral sources in this session.
